I. Questions Frequently Asked by Individuals
- What kind of training do you provide?
Ans: We focus on providing a good introduction to technical writing. At the end of the course you would have an idea of the components of User Guides, how to create an outline, how to write procedures, how to incorporate screenshots within the text and a whole lot more. Part of the course involves undertaking a project that makes use of technical writing concepts. For more details see the PDF brochure on training. This is available under Downloads.
- Can I take a course in technical writing and then work from home?
Ans: Since very often you would need to work with a software product that is not yet released to the market, companies do not favor working from home.
However, if you have worked with a company for some years and they have built up a relationship with you and you have signed the required Intellectual Property agreements, this would be possible.
- Do you offer training in technical writing tools?
Ans: Not usually, because only experienced writers are expected to have a working knowledge of commonly used technical writing tools such as FrameMaker and RoboHelp. Also, the technical communication landscape is evolving rapidly with different organizations using a variety of tools.
- Do you provide placement services?
Ans: Since we do undertake projects and have a client base, we do our best to place people that have trained with us.
II. Questions Frequently Asked by Prospective Clients
- How do you go about producing documentation for a software product?
Ans: We have a structured process in place for each project. Reviews of technical documents, seeing product demos, working with the software and domain research are all part of the process. Documentation deliverables are identified, and drafts are sent to clients for review at agreed-upon intervals.
- Does Write Concept undertake process documentation?
Ans: Yes, provided that we get first-hand and reliable information about the process that is involved.
- Do you create User Manuals for products other than software?
Ans: Sometimes, provided that we get adequate information and know how the product works.
- Do you create Web content and advertising copy?
Ans: No.
- What domains have you worked in?
Ans: Our team has worked on a variety of domains such as: Healthcare, Telecom, Network Security, Business Intelligence, Sales & Marketing, Banking, and so on. Our Case Studies present a better picture of the kind of projects we have undertaken.
- Do you provide any support to the writers who work from client sites?
Ans: Yes. We provide editorial services when required and also answer queries made by Write Concept writers that work from client locations. We also conduct training to enhance their skills and capabilities.
